Best Location for the Great Wildebeest Migration:
Embalakai camps is set up on the edge of a small tributary of the Grumeti River, under large acacia tortilis trees. This stream has pools of water most of the year, making the camp very active with wildlife all year round. It is common to be sitting in the camp and see herds of zebra and wildebeest passing by. A great location to view the Serengeti Wildebeest Migration.

The key feature of Embalakai camps is its very central location. The camp is approximately 35 mins north of the Seronera airstrip, close to the turn off to the Western Corridor or to the northern areas. Check the exact location on 2.314282S 34.862425E. It is also a very good mid-way stop for guests traveling from the Crater area to the Northern Serengeti as it is only 2hrs drive to Kogatende . The perfect place to break the journey in a stunning and remote location. Embalakai Camp is just one hour drive to Kirawira in western Serengeti, about 43kms.

Your Balloon Safari adventure starts early morning when you depart from the Camp. It is still dark and you may be fortunate to see nocturnal animals on the way to the launch site which is close proximity with Embalakai Camps.
We are Located close to Retina Hippo Pool:
Embalakai Camps is very close to Retina Hippo pool. The pool is just 8.7kms away from the Camp. Retina Pool offers the best hippo viewing in the Serengeti. The most unique feature and compelling draw for visitors to the Retina Pool is that they are permitted to leave the vehicle and view the hippos on foot. The riverbank here is about 10-feet above the pool and it is possible to climb to only few feet away from the approximately 200.

Embalakai Camps is only 95 kms driver to Grumeti River view point .The Grumeti Woodlands play host to the most amazing wildlife spectacle in Africa. Every year, thousands of wildebeest take the cold plunge to cross the glittering waters of the Grumeti River, the centerpiece of the Grumeti Woodlands. The river itself is renowned for its population of gigantic Nile crocodiles. Some of these pre-historic monsters measure up to 17-feet long and are 70-years old!
