Port St Johns is a quaint coastal village known as the Jewel of the Wild Coast, from June to July we make a luxury lodge on the banks of Port St Johns’ Mzimvubu River our base.

We join the various predators like sharks, humpback whales, dolphins & birds as they move along the South African coastline feeding on the bait balls during the day, & spend the evenings relaxing with friends around the fire eating, drinking & talking about the day’s excitement.

ITINENARY:
Arrival: Arrive and transfer to Port St Johns. Check in to the hotel for 7 nights. Meet up in the early evening for a full expedition briefing and to meet the crew.
5 Sea days: Spend the full day out at sea looking for Sardine Run action.
• After breakfast you will embark the boat (8m semi-rigid RIB) directly in front of the hotel.
• Ocean Safari. Lunch is provided on the boat. Return to hotel at approximately 3 pm to relax and enjoy dinner at the resort
Rest/ Sightseeing/ Cultural Day: Spend the day relaxing at the hotel & enjoying the facilities or alternatively join the Pro Dive crew on a half day excursion where you will get to explore the area, visit a local school & community.
Departure: Check out after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight home. NB: Please enquire if you would like to extend your package with additional Sardine Run days, Cape Town great white shark diving, Aliwal Shoal diving or a visit to the Kruger National Park.

Nestled between towering cliffs and set in amazing tropical gardens on the banks the Umzimvubu River, N’taba River Lodge is one of the most scenic resorts in the area.

The convenience of this location is that you embark and disembark from the boat right on your doorstep and no transfers are required.

Snorkelers And Non-Divers

Most of the Sardine Run is experienced snorkeling and only when we fi nd a static bait ball do we get in the water with scuba gear to view the bait balls from below. This is excellent news for people who are not qualified divers but are able to snorkel.

The Sardine Run is an exceptional experience above and below the water. Think of it as a game drive safari, but on the ocean.

A visit to South Africa would not be complete without a stop in Cape Town - known to many as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. This is an awesome 4-night extension that can be added on to any of the standard South African packages. You will get to experience Great White shark cage diving, penguins and the scenic beauty that the Cape has to offer.

Spend a few days at Aliwal Shoal, one of South Africa’s premier dive spots where sightings of ragged-tooth sharks are common and the possibility of other large pelagic such as sea turtles, potato bass and numerous game fish can be seen. The baited shark dive is extremely popular with divers, where you are surrounded by anything from 20 – 80 bold oceanic blacktip sharks and might even have other species such as tiger or bull sharks come close.
